For me a healthy lifestyle isn’t only about eating healthy and exercise regularly, it goes way beyond this. For me it’s about being conscious of the choices I take on a daily basis - ethics and the environment plays a much bigger role here than most people even imagined – at least for me and I hope more and more people will get their eyes open for what we are facing. There are several reasons why I find this important to look into. We all know mass production leads to high waste and lots of chemicals/toxins are used in the production and also leave lots of toxins in the materials, this isn’t very environmental friendly nor sustainable, and its also unhelathy for us. Mass production is way too often leading to poor human- and animal welfare. Which I find heart breaking! Just to mentioned a few factors that I believe we all should pay more attention towards. We should be more critical to all the products, we purchase every day, by this i dont only mean the food we eat, but also the clothes, skincare, laundry products etc.. We need to gain knowledge of how it influence our environment and our own health.
This is why I get so grateful when I hear about products such as Ayo Oslo – 100% natural and organic, high quality cashmere who is focusing on the environment, animal welfare and being sustainable, but also the comfort and quality of their cashmere products. Maria (founder of Ayo Oslo) has travelled the world to find the best collaborators who have the values aligned with her own. The wool is from Mongolian herders, which is a great social responsibility project where Ayo Oslo make sure that the value chain remains in the country and benefits the local community. Ayo Oslo is donating 1% of its proceeds back to the nomadic herder’s community. Wool from Mongolia is considered amongst the highest quality of wool in the world. The animals graze in the beautiful and idyllic vast steppe of Mongolia, and are free from the cruel mulesing practise. They are treated with respect, as part of the nomadic herder’s lifestyle, which has been carried out for generations. The animal welfare is extremely important factor for me, as animals shouldn’t suffer or be disrespected in any way to please us, humans. Animal welfare is a factor that is very often hard to source, unless the brand is open about this themselves. I challenge you to ask about the animal welfare next time you buy any animal based products, this will help bring more awareness to the issue, and it will make a change.
